KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - A milestone for J-Pop fans all over Malaysia as indie group Atarashii Gakko! touched down in Kuala Lumpur on the 21st of June during their world tour. The concert was held in Zepp KL which is a medium sized concert venue in the heart of the Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC); despite the size of the venue, the energy of the crowd as well as Atarashii Gakko! themselves completed the experience.
The girls played an amazing setlist of their hits which consists of hit songs from their albums such as “Tokyo Calling”, “Woo! Go!”, “Nainainai” and “Suki Lie”. The songs are famous for their influences from songs of decades past which works really well with their energy on stage. Overall it was a perfect setlist for their first show in Malaysia. A concertgoer going by the initials J.B. said "It was a lot of fun and way more than what I expected from the beginning".
Atarashii Gakko! consists of 4 members which are Suzuka, Kanon, Rin and Mizyu. They debuted in 2015 under Victor Entertainment but officially made it big when they made their move to 88rising in 2017. So far they have been steadily getting traction all around the world as people have been recognising their unique genre as well as their talent. They have also been collaborating with other artists such as rising Indonesian star Warren Hue in their song “Freaks” as well as a small feature with K-Hip Hop group Young Posse during 88rising’s “Head in the Clouds” festival.
The night has been a fantastic night of music and dance, we hope that we get to see more of Atarashii Gakko! as well as other artists making a regular stop in Malaysia. From what we can see from their first show, they definitely will come back again.
