24 July is International Self-Care Day, but that doesn’t mean self-care is only for one day! Especially towards the end of the semester, it’s important to give yourself some self-care during this semester break after all that academic stress. Here are some self-care tips, along with place recommendations, to help you make the most of your semester break and return to the new semester with a new glow, new you.
Prioritize Sleep
When was the last time you had a good night’s sleep — like a proper 7 hours? Bet it was during MCO, right? While I understand getting enough sleep as a student is hard, that doesn’t make it any less important. So go ahead and give yourself some quality rest! Your body and mind deserve to recover.
If you have sleeping issues like me, try getting a pillow mist. Not sure how it works, but surprisingly, it does help me fall asleep better!
Start Exercising and Eat Healthy
University stress might have made you skip workouts and ignore your diet, right? Whether you’re looking for a classic gym session or hopping onto the pilates trend, here are some workout studios in Klang Valley to help you feel good through sweating it out:

Carve @Mont Kiara
Euphoria @Damansara Heights
MOOV Pilates @SS15 Courtyard

Not to mention, regular workouts help improve your sleep quality too by releasing hormones that are beneficial for sleep.
As for eating clean, start by including more fresh fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Try to reduce processed foods and unhealthy fats. I know it sounds hard, but anything for better health, right?
Mindfulness, Meditation, and Stress Management
After a long and stressful semester, it’s time to clear your mind and reset. While meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature can help, if you’re looking for a one-stop wellness spot — TheLotas is it.
This 3-storey wellness hub has everything you need, from facials to massages to delicious food, all under one roof.
Start your day with a refreshing gua sha facial at their HerbaLine Facial Spa, followed by a visit to Nail In for a glow-up for your nails. After that, enjoy a nourishing meal at Le G, where you can customise your own dishes. It’s the perfect place to recharge and spend some quality time with your loved ones.

Practice Self-Compassion
University life is tough. There were probably times when you doubted yourself, made mistakes, or felt overwhelmed. But hey, that’s okay. It’s all in the past now. We all make mistakes, and it’s part of growing.
Practice forgiving yourself. Be gentle when you fall short. Don’t overthink the future, because everything will eventually fall into place in its own time.
Take a walk, talk with your friends, express gratitude to your loved ones. Do whatever makes you feel a little lighter.

Practising self-care might sound easy to do, but let’s be real — when do we actually do it? In this fast-paced world, we often lose touch with ourselves and forget what we’re chasing. It’s okay to slow down. It’s okay to take a break.
Let this semester break be the start of your self-care journey and let it grow into a habit! Because self-love should always come first.
