In recent years, more and more international artists have chosen Malaysia as an important stop for their Asian tours, which has not only boosted the local concert market but also brought new development opportunities and vitality to the entertainment industry and related economies.
In the 2026 concert schedule in Malaysia, several international artists have arranged their performance schedules, including well-known singers and bands such as Asia Top, BTS, and Jessica. After the announcement of the relevant news, it attracted widespread attention on social media and attracted a large number of fans worldwide to purchase tickets and participate.
Many viewers believe that compared to other neighboring countries, the ticket prices for concerts in Malaysia are relatively low. Coupled with convenient transportation and Malaysia's long-term development of tourism, it has gradually become one of the popular destinations for viewing performances.
"Compared to some countries, Malaysia offers convenient transportation and accommodation, People can also travel while coming here. Now that Malaysia is visa free to China, many of my domestic friends are willing to come here to watch performances, "said Zhang LeYuan, a student at Taylor's University.
Industry insiders point out that Malaysia's geographical advantage is one of the important reasons for attracting international artists. As a central country in Southeast Asia, Malaysia has close ties with countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, and its language environment is diverse and friendly, making it easy for audiences from surrounding areas to visit.
Music producer Libby Chen said, "Malaysia is one of the most international countries in Southeast Asia, with a stable fan base locally and the conditions to host large-scale performances, such as Axiata Arena and National Hockey Stadium, which can host international level events and accommodate over 10000 spectators at the same time."
As the number of international performances increases, the economic benefits they bring are gradually becoming clear. The consumption of related industries such as hotels, catering, transportation, and tourism is steadily increasing.
According to data announced by Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications Malaysia, Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin, during the “Pesta Itu - Ini” event held at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in 2025, the number of international concerts in Malaysia has continued to increase since 2022, reaching 104 in 2022, 335 in 2023, 408 in 2024, and over 450 in 2025. Entering 2026, the growth trend is expected to continue. By 2025, the economic contribution of related industries is projected to reach RM1.72 billion.
In addition to its geographical advantage and stable fan base, the Malaysian government has launched the CEMI concert incentive program in recent years to attract more international performances to Malaysia through financial rebates, further promoting the development of local entertainment and tourism industries.
During a weekly press conference in 2025 regarding the opening of applications for the Concert and Event in Malaysia Incentive (CEMI), Malaysian Minister of Communications Datuk Fahmi Fadzil stated, "This initiative has the potential to generate job opportunities, increase tourist arrivals, and bring about a significant economic impact for the nation.”
However, the concert craze also brings certain challenges, including difficulties in purchasing popular tickets, ticket tour monopolizing ticket prices, rising accommodation prices, and increased traffic pressure.
"Popular concert tickets are usually difficult to grab, and ticket tour business in Malaysia is also increasing. Sometimes extra money is needed to buy tickets, and accommodation in the surrounding area also increases prices. ”Singaporean fan Lucas Tan said.
However, the industry generally believes that with the continuous expansion of market demand and the continuous entry of international entertainment resources, Malaysia is still expected to further consolidate its position as the center of Southeast Asian concerts and promote cultural exchange and economic development in the future.
