SUBANG JAYA, Selangor - With the rise of AI quickly transforming the event industry, student-led NeuVision effectively organised AI-Powered Events: The Future of the Event Industry that gathered 4 revered industry practitioners to share their expertise on the matter.

On 21 June at Taylor’s the panellists: Micky Ng Mooi Chin (Chief Imagination Officer at Above Creative Events (M) Sdn Bhd), Ng Wai Yee (Stream Leader and Lecturer at Taylor’s University from School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events), Rahul Bharadwaj (Co-founder of Anderes Fourdy Sdn Bhd), accompanied by moderator Lee Mark (Chief Operating Officer of Hotshoes Asia) had a riveting exploration of the untapped potential and revolutionary possibilities that AI can bring to event planning.

The event was a collaborative effort between students from varying degree programmes as a part of their group project under the Events Operation module. With the aim to provide a platform for networking and growth, they were well received by Taylor’s students, with a full-house lecture theatre of over 150 students present. Many concerns were also addressed during this forum.

“There’s this fear that AI will replace us and that our jobs will be redundant,” said Zara Safi Kazi, Assistant Project Manager of NeuVision.

“But I think the panellists were able to address this issue, that it is just a tool that we should incorporate.”

“We even used ChatGPT to help us with writing the formal emails and formats for this event,” said Lee Yan Xuan, Project Manager of NeuVision.

Ng Wai Yee, one of the panellists shared that as a lecturer, she believes the event is well-done and it’s evident that there was a lot of consideration for the topic and speakers.

“This forum is a good reality check for the students, and provides them with a glimpse of what the industry is like.”

As the tech-savvy newer generation eventually enters the workforce, they’re encouraged to use AI technology to bring a fresher perspective to the industry. Infusing AI into the process of event planning has potential, provided due diligence to fact-checking has been done.
