TAYLOR’S LAKESIDE CAMPUS, JUNE 17 – After a short delay due to the lack of manpower, the “Zen Trek” scavenger hunt finally hosted at LT23 and it was more than worth the wait. Organised by Peer Counselling Buddies (PCB), the event brought together students from different backgrounds to explore mental health in an interactive, light-hearted way.

PCB is a peer support initiative under Taylor’s Counselling and Psychological Services, run by trained student volunteers,  dedicated to providing one-on-one support, mental health promotion activities and peer companionship for students. Through the "student accompanying student" approach, PCB members have become an important bridge connecting campus psychological resources with students.

This event is precisely an extension and embodiment of the PCB spirit. "We aim to make mental health a tangible and discussable topic of daily life through fun interactions." One of the event planning members, Isaac, said. He, along with his partner Khin Thuzar, was responsible for task design and process planning. From the game content to the process arrangement, everything revolved around the concept of "education through entertainment".

This treasure hunt event has set up eight check-in points, which are distributed in various corners of the campus. Each group of participants needs to complete all the challenges within two hours, ranging from physical activities such as ten squats to knowledge-based tasks like the "Myths and Facts" quiz on mental health, word games, identifying the Logo of a psychological organization, and the content of counseling services. The forms are diverse and highly creative. The most interesting part of the game is that each group has a "Spy" whose task is to quietly interfere with the progress. If a team member discovers their identity, they can get extra points. This makes the activity more than just a knowledge competition; it also adds to the fun of strategy and teamwork.

“At first, I just came to participate with a casual attitude. I never expected that I would really learn a lot of psychological knowledge that I didn't know before in the game.” Kaelyn from the Diploma programme shared. Business student Manoj also said that this event unexpectedly brought people closer together. "It's really great to make new friends while having fun." In addition to the main tasks and challenges, light snacks and beverages were also provided on the spot for participants to replenish energy and communicate with each other while running. At the end of the event, all the participants and the members of the organizing committee took a group photo in front of the student center to record this journey completed together in sweat and laughter.

"Zen Trek" is not only a game, it is one of the ways for PCB to convey psychological care. As Isaac said, "Mental health is not just a serious thing, it can also be a warm interaction, a run, and a process in which we learn to get closer to each other."
