The Higher Education Ministry (KPT) allowed students of higher education institutions to return to their campus in phases according to their respective institutions from 1 March 2021 as reported in The Star.

Existing and new international students are allowed to enter Malaysia, for students who are approved and obtained a visa from the Immigration Department, with the exception of students from the United Kingdom.

Local students who are required on campus for hybrid learning should return in phases and are required to obtain respective Taylor’s Campus Entry Pass (TCEP) from the Taylor’s Mobile app from March 2021 based on the announcement of Taylor’s University.

Currently, Taylor’s universities are providing local and international students a choice of attending hybrid teaching and learning activities through face-to-face and online lessons but not all the students are willing to attend physical class now due to several reasons.

“I think I'm not going back to physical class because not all students will obey behavior pledges for social distancing and standard operating procedures (SOPs), '' a student from INTI International College and University, Amber Yap said.

“I do not think students should be allowed to campus just yet,” said Ajay Kumar Sudhakaran, a student from Taylor’s University.

“The pandemic is a serious issue, more so for those who come into contact with vulnerable groups such as the elderly and other family members.

“Yes, there has to be a sense of responsibility on the individual to maintain proper hygiene. But can we ensure the many thousands of others that traffic the campus daily does the same?” Ajay added.
