Spirits were high and laughs were shared during an online Game Show hosted on Taylor’s University’s YouTube Channel on 28 May 2021.
The host and 4 contestants of the show, Game Unlocked, chuckled and fought goodheartedly to the barrage of movie related trivia questions on Friday.
Game Unlocked is a live series produced by Joanne Thong and supported by Jeremy Teo, the same creative forces behind another popular internet series, “Beyond Teaching”, a poignant and insightful series that takes viewers on a dive into the lives of lecturers that students wouldn’t otherwise know about.
“We wanted to bring Taylorians together in this pandemic, especially during the lockdown,” said Joanne Thong.
“With barely any physical contact and time spent at the Lakeside Campus during the pandemic, we wanted to connect Taylorians together and to “unlock” the lockdown for the community by having a little fun online, and what better way than using live streaming as the format to make the series as inclusive as possible.”
The game show premiered right around the time of the announcement of a new phase of MCO in Malaysia in May of this year.
Tengku Ayman, a mass communications student at Taylor’s and host of the show shared that while it was a new experience, he was glad to be a part of the show.
“I felt a definite nervousness before the show aired, and even on the air I did stumble on some of my words, but still managed to go with the flow.”
“Despite all that, I got a ton of support from friends and the audience, and of course interacting with the participants was fun,” he adds.

Tengku also noted that while two of the participants were a tad shy, and had to keep initiating conversation to keep the flow going, the other two were “naturals” and he had a great back and forth with them.
“I did make a few mistakes during the livestream as well, but we shouldn’t bring ourselves down for making mistakes on the first go. It's only natural.
I’d say that if you feel you've done a good job and the audience loved you and the show, then stick with your own gut feeling, learn from the mistakes and improve where possible.”
Game Unlocked, which premiered on 28 May 2021, is an ongoing live series that airs each week on the Taylor’s Youtube channel.
