Craving for fresh and healthy food as well as exquisite goodness, along with the pursuit of higher food and exploring more advanced culinary knowledge, the Young Chefs Community Club (YCC) hosted a party at Taylor's on 29 April to welcome new chefs to the club.
The party was sponsored by Victorinox, Rèn and Fantastic Foods, and offered various discounts to members to encourage them to become more motivated about cooking.
The club's president, Mr Yap Zhen Jie, invited his friends to the party in an Instagram post. He told us the party was to welcome new members of the YCC and was for those who wanted to make friends, or had an extreme interest in cooking.

Before the party officially started, Yap introduced the members to the rules and what the programme consisted of, "New chefs can get a better understanding of our community through this presentation," Yap told us, "Anyone can ask their questions and members can discuss it together ".
After the presentation, members began an Ice Breaker Bingo session where participants made new friends through simple conversation, shared culinary knowledge and chose friends of their choice to team up with for the game. Teams of five worked together to complete five games, through Meringue Rush, Telephone, Heads Up,Eyeballing Ingredients and Relay Drawing. These five games promoted friendship and teamwork.
After the games, YCC members enjoyed the food and conversation, during which we found Yap who told us that the feedback from the members was excellent and that they were very happy to have participated in the event.
The YCC members are a group of culinary students from Taylor's Culinary College who are passionate about their industry. They find like-minded people through this community, where they exchange knowledge and inspire each other. Through this community, everyone can further themselves and discover their potential by taking part in a number of activities.
It is understood that in 2023 YCC often organize events that will improve culinary skills. On 19 February YCC and RÈN Malaysia collaborated on a workshop that gave members a better understanding of Japanese knives and knife sharpening techniques. On 27 March Chef Jehoash held a workshop that helped members better understand the bread making process. On 4 April, YCC members met with L' Ambrosia On 13 April, Eddie Tan, owner of CakeTella, gave a workshop on the innovation of alcoholic cakes and educated members on the wonderful role of alcohol in cakes.
