The capital city of the United Arab Emirates holds many secrets. From gorgeous islands scattered around the city, palaces of old and new, and cloud high skyscrapers. There is an ever-growing list of locations to take your perfect holiday pictures.
1. Louvre

Before you ask, yes there is a Louvre museum located in the stunning city of Abu Dhabi. First opened in March of 2017, the U.A.E. and France formed an alliance to create a massive and iconic architectural wonder.
Elegance is how I can first describe both the inside and outside architecture. With the iconic dome placed over the museum, the thousands of openings allow a unique show of sunlight that shines through. Not only can you take pictures during the day, but it is a particularly amazingly dreamy place at night as well. It also helps that it’s located right next to the ocean, allowing it’s bright blue waters to shine during the day.
How to get there: Located on Al-Saddiyaat, right next to the main island where the city is located, it only takes 10, utmost 15 minutes to arrive from anywhere in the city to the dream that is the Louvre.
Best times to go: The best times to go could range anywhere from the early morning sunrise, to the gorgeous sunset. Although it’s best to avoid noon times as it could get quite hot and the sun may be right above your heads.
Cost: A regular ticket would set you back DHS60 (RM67), but is complimentary for front liners, press, educators, and children under the age of 18.
2. Qasr Al Watan - The Presidential Palace

Recently opened to the public in 2019, Qasr Al Watan can be translated to the Palace of the Nation and a palace it is. With extremely high ceilings and intricate walls and hallways, this palace is something of a masterpiece and the pictures can talk for themselves.

Cost: DHS30 (RM33) for children under 18 and DHS60 (RM67) for adults.
3. Qasr Al Hosn

The historic landmark Qasr Al Hosn, is the oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi, right in the heart of the city, hidden between tall buildings, it’s a little piece of history stuck in time in the middle of modern society. First built in 1761, it was the home of the royal family. With gorgeous arches lining the open halls, and rooms filled with stories of generations, the site was deemed a world heritage site in 1976.
The building now has a modern museum filled with artefacts that tell the story of the young city, from pearls and clothing to wooden boats and art. This is a must-go, to show off your love for history and art.
How to get there: Located next to the World Trade Center (WTC), in the heart of the city, it will take no time to get from your hotel to this historic wonder in a quick taxi ride.
Best times to go: The best times to go are after noon, so the sun won’t burn you alive, and then when the golden hour hits.
Cost: Entry fee costs DHS30 (RM33) for those above the age of 18.
4. Zaya Nurai Island

A 15 minute boat ride away from Abu Dhabi, you’ll find an island paradise. Surrounded by crystal clear blue waters, Zaya Nurai Island is the epiphany of relaxation. This boutique private island resort has villas, restaurants, and beaches galore. The island is sure to bring out your inner peace.

This is the furthest place away from the city, as it’s located in Al Ain. Roughly an hour away, you’ll be able to escape the tall buildings and watch the sunsets setting over the hills and hills of sand. This is where you’ll be able to experience a clear night’s sky, belly dancing, and sand dunning.
