In the early days of the pandemic, some scholars said online study is part of a new normal.

This situation benefitted some students, whilst others struggled.

Then in early of 2021, Covid-19 vaccine was introduced and started to be distributed around the world.

The Malaysian government has received millions of Covid-19 vaccine doses, and focuses on essential sectors, such as education and healthcare workers.

Then the Malaysian Government distributed it to all hospitals, schools and universities in all states, from Penang to Sabah and Sarawak.

However, some scholars still encourage schools and universities to conduct online learning, although some of its students have been vaccinated.

This statement raises questions about the vaccine’s importance, and the side effects.

Although the side effects are proven minor, some people still have fear about more serious side effects.

Moreover, today new variants of Covid 19 have been detected in several states in Malaysia, then other variants too may enter Malaysia soon.

These variants have the ability to fight the vaccines or have the immunity to vaccines, which causes more doubts about the vaccination program.

According to the World Health Organization, vaccines are still very important not only for students, but for everybody because it is still the simplest way to avoid Covid-19 infections.

Despite all the doubts, most people also consider it important to take vaccines, especially university students.

Taylor’s University started its vaccination for students in May and is still going on until today.

“Vaccination is important,” said Rivando Lai, a student from the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Taylors University.

“Vaccination is the only way to make everything better, it gives a sense of security to you and people around you from getting infected,” he said in a interview via Whatsapp.

However, he has not taken the vaccine from Taylor's University, as he took the vaccine in Indonesia.

Taylor’s University has promised that student vaccination is they’re major goal, in order to welcome students back in October.

The university puts vaccination as the main requirement for students to enter campus, currently Malaysia has vaccinated 50 percent of its students.

His views show that the vaccines somehow will help the students, not only in Taylor’s University, to go back to normal.

Currently Malaysia has vaccinated 62 percent of the population.
