Gen Z’s views on Emma Chamberlain taking on the Met Gala

Gen Z stars take on The Met Gala 2021. An array of Youtube vloggers, Tiktok stars and social media influencers showed up to the annual affair decked in stunning designer pieces.

Lifestyle vlogger Emma Chamberlain did not only attend and walk the carpet but the quirky Youtuber loved by her 10.8 million Youtube subscribers for her fashion sense and relatable personality, was also Vogue’s hostess of the night.

The Met Gala, kindred to the Oscars of the fashion industry, is attended by Hollywood stars, models and designers for the night to raise money for The Met’s Costume Institute.

In light of the booming influence which social media stars bring to the table, it has presented them with opportunities to attend significant events like The Met.

Emma looked stunning in a gold bejewelled Louis Vuitton dress followed by an asymmetrical train, as she strutted across the red carpet.

Chamberlain, a vlogger turned business owner and ambassador, took to Instagram with a caption to a portrait of her, “This is crazy, thank you.”

Her attendance sparked her trending on Twitter.

Avid Malaysian Chamberlain fan, Nicole Wong said “I think that it’s great that younger and more exciting influencers are getting the chance to attend such a prestigious event.

If proven that they deserve the opportunity, why not give them a chance to attend?

As a spectator, it is very interesting to see the different styles presented by A-list celebrities and influencers like Emma.”

Another Malaysian subscriber and fashion enthusiast, Lerissa Leona shared, “My thoughts on a younger influencer like Emma Chamberlain attending a prestigious event such as the Met is that she inspires not only me but those who suffer from anxiety that they are able to push through and good things will come their way if they try.
