BUSAN, South Korea, 12 October 2025 – Six Indonesian films took the spotlight at this year’s Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea, signaling the nation’s growing influence in global cinema. The diverse selection reflects the growth of Indonesia’s film industry and its ability to showcase the charm of Indonesian stories to international audiences.

The emergence of Indonesian cinema has been hailed by reviewers for its rich cultural diversity and emotional honesty. According to film historian Rini Armanda, "This year's representation demonstrates how Indonesian filmmakers are mastering both local narratives and global appeal."
The 2025 lineup features the films Pangku by Reza Rahardian, Rangga & Cinta, Esok Tanpa Ibu, The Fox King, Badarawuhi di Desa Penari, and Sekat-Sekat. Each film highlights Indonesia’s cinematic diversity and a range of different genres.
Among the most talked-about entries is Rangga & Cinta, a coming of age drama directed by Riri Riza, which is a remake of a classic Indonesian love story that has twisted it into a musical. This film stars Jasmine Nadya, a rising actress known for her expressive performances and natural charisma on screen.
In an interview, Jasmine shared her excitement about having a part to play in the film, as well as the growing recognition received for Indonesia's film industry.
"It's my first time working on a big project, and I think that every cast and crew are very passionate in what they're doing, with a really healthy working ethics and environment. Everyone also had worked so hard for this project. It's really nice to be a part of this project." Jasmine shared.

She also noted that many new local movies have been getting more and more progressive and the filmmakers have more courage to tell impactful and entertaining stories. She credits these great auteurs for boldly creating new innovative work that had raised the Indonesian movie standards so much more, such as the films Jumbo and Sore (Istri dari masa Depan). So Jasmine feels honored that Rangga & Cinta was screened on such a prestigious stage like the BIFF.
