Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin was quoted in Malaysiakini requesting for the public to cooperate with the government and not misuse their freedom so the country can successfully enter the endemic phase by the end of October.

“I understand many are excited after three months of being in the Movement Control Order, but full vaccination is not an excuse not to adhere to standard protocols as they protect us from the virus,” says Khairy.

It was previously announced on 1 September that the country is preparing to move on to the endemic phase where the people should accept the fact that the virus exists, and to live with it while exercising self-responsibility for the safety of others.

Terrence, a recent graduate that has just moved to England revealed “Over here, you rarely see people wear masks or follow standard protocol. Everyone is just moving on with their lives like normal. Covid is no longer a pandemic; it is an endemic.”

Once we’re vaccinated there’s nothing we can really do. We need to move on, our lives can’t our lives can’t be put on hold forever because of a virus. As long as we remain responsible it should be alright,” he adds. Khairy also revealed in FMT that the Ministry of Health has seen a decline in cases in Klang Valley after thorough monitoring.
