As graduation approaches at Taylor's University students are beginning to consider what comes next and thinking more seriously about it. Because of this students are anxious as they complete projects and study for finals. They are starting to have conversations about how they will search for jobs, interview, and what type of career they will choose. Students are both excited and fearful about what comes next because they will no longer have the structure and guidance that they have now. After graduation the students will not attend classes or submit assignments or have access to their university as a place of social interaction, thus creating uncertainty about how to function in the working world and live independently.
The most common concern that students express about finding a job after graduating is fear. Many graduating students will not find a job right away because most employers require experience before hiring someone new. Many new graduates express confidence in finding employment; however, many are doubtful about finding work.
Internships completed through Taylor's University provide students with realistic opportunities to begin building connections and relationships in the workplace. Internships also develop important business skills such as: effective communication skills; working as a team towards a common goal; and the value of working within established deadlines. In addition to developing business skills, many students learn the importance of having a good work ethic and being responsible to their employer, as well as having good grades.

Another concern of graduating students is the financial burden students face
once they graduate when they will be responsible for all of their living expenses. Many students receive financial support from their parents or family members while in school. With the continually rising cost of living many students are concerned about whether or not their first job's salary will be sufficient to cover their basic needs.
As students transition from their roles as university students to full-time workers, many will have to adjust to a significantly different lifestyle than they have become accustomed to while at school, such as fixed working hours, increased levels of responsibility, and decreased flexibility. Because of these significant lifestyle adjustments many students experience increased levels of stress and anxiety.
Graduating students believe that Taylor's University has prepared them with many skills that will help them in finding and maintaining their jobs such as: working effectively in team settings; using effective communication skills; being able to manage their time when completing group projects; and providing effective support to fellow classmates.
In summary, graduating from university creates a mixture of confidence and insecurity about the next step in the journey of each graduate. Many graduates feel unprepared for graduation; however, they understand that graduation is the first step toward building their next chapter of their lives, not the last chapter of their education. Ultimately, it will require having a flexible mindset, the ability to adapt to new situations, and a commitment to continuing your education.
