Aspiring talents across Malaysia were spurred on by Adam Izzy, radio announcer turned social media specialist, during Shure’s 98th anniversary at Taylor’s in May.
With over 450 thousand followers on social media, the Chief Entertainment Officer at Shure wanted to share his experience to those who are just starting out because there was no one to guide him.
“I have been wanting to do a seminar for a long time, and then the pandemic happened,” said Adam.

The key takeaways were: Steal, Write Your Script, Use Whatever You Have, Edit, Post.
Adam explained that there is no such thing as original ideas; older ones are “stolen” as inspiration.
“If there are no emotions, no story has been told,” he continued, “Good stories do not end with a resolution but instead a punch.”
He confirmed that a phone is more than enough for filming and that tools on social media are preferred for editing.
He recommended the participants to not procrastinate in posting their content.
“I think anybody who creates videos is a bit of a perfectionist … I need to post it and move on because otherwise I would not stop; I will keep making it better … and just never post.”
Arrian Azmil, a participant, learned that the audiences tend to care most about audio quality.
“The event was not difficult to understand and it is good for beginners like me ... we made our own videos within 45 minutes,” he said, and would attend future seminars that Adam might have.
Adam provided constructive criticisms on all videos that the participants have created.

Heidi Malik, a communication student added, “Adam was a great teacher in helping us to navigate this whole thing and I completely understand where he’s coming from.”
“As a soon-to-be PR practitioner, I want to be able to tell stories to my clients. That’s why I felt this would be a great opportunity for me to learn how video storytelling works.”
She learned that haters would mean that one is doing right.
“Whether it is good or bad publicity, it is still publicity,” Adam said.
“Put up things that only you can … you will win.”
Adam is a Taylor’s Alumni; Taylorians had a free pass to the masterclass worth RM 50, including Shure’s limited edition T-shirt, and light refreshments.
The first six to participate in the Q&A session walked away with a Shure Premium Thermal-Insulated Bottle.

Adam is proud of the participants,
“I love them, oh my god, today’s participants are great.”
Some even stayed back for a one-on-one session with Adam, seeking advice.
If Adam is to conduct another masterclass, he would like to share on finding a niche or unique sound.
