Taylor’s Unibuddy- Creating perfect spaces for prospective students

Starting university is one of the most momentous occasions of one’s life. There is excitement, apprehension, happiness and an amalgamation of other emotions flitting around in your belly.

And what often alleviates some of the nervousness attached to stepping foot onto campus (virtual or otherwise) is listening to the experiences of the students who have been on the same journey.

And Unibuddy does just that.

Opening up the avenue for prospective students to chat with existing students and be able to ask them any questions, the same way one would use any other messaging platform has not only created better means of connection, but also the understanding of experiences.

As soon as one types in the course they’re looking for on their respective search engines, if they happen to click on a course offered by Taylor’s University, they’ll see a chat option pop up for the prospective student to chat with the Taylor’s Unibuddy that does that course or a related one.

Danniel Iskandar, Junior Executive for Community Engagement at Taylor’s Marketing during the launch of Unibuddy in mid 2020, says, “A lot of the time when prospective students are looking for information regarding choosing a university, that information is almost usually the overly refined business crafted message that’s meant for the paying customer (the parents).”

“Unibuddy on the other hand, is literally by students, for students.”

Although a first for Taylor’s University, Unibuddy is a tried and tested system, which originated in the UK, with so many universities adopting it around the world. It’s become such a well known system surrounding the academic world that most students, especially from Europe, are already familiar with the benefits of using it.

Ali Moossajee, a fellow Unibuddy Ambassador says, “As someone who loves talking and sharing experiences, and then on top of that enjoys providing support to students, Unibuddy is that special chocolate bar in the candy store!”
