The future. This phrase means that in coming years the society would experience changes in many different ways that would bring a major impact on millions of people.

The significant change started when print journalism was transformed into digital journalism.

The presence of the internet and artificial intelligence has influenced our information consumption and information seeking behaviours.

For example, media companies focus more on publishing their stories not only on their websites, but also on their social media.

From the perspective of the society, people become more likely to obtain information from social media because it is easier to access.

Media companies might not need to hire journalists anymore for collecting data, because everything can be done by AI.

Moreover, automated journalism technologies can take over jobs from journalists and news reporters to write stories.

Automatic Journalism is also considered as the future, because it can do fast analysis of news before putting them into news stories.

With this technology and advance development of the internet of 5G, automatic journalism seems a very reliable option for media companies.

Which could save money from journalists salaries that they have to pay each year, that money can be used for maintenance or other matters.

However, all of those facts are still a mystery and only a prediction of the future of journalism.

However, there are people who believe AI and other digital technologies will not take over journalism completely.

“The future of journalism will mostly be based on digital technology that we’ve seen today,” said Philip Gan Chee Keat, a program director at Taylor’s University’s School of Media and Communication.

He also said that AI and the internet are only tools to support the media companies to share their stories, so millions of people could get access to information

“As media companies, they need tools or mediums that would help them to share transparent information, through many different platforms,” he explains.

What he meant is that these media companies still need human power for surveillance to keep the technology from making a mistake.

The profession of journalism will not be taken over by artificial intelligence or automatics journalism technologies, because of the news categories.

“News writing initially can be done by using AI but only for certain topics, such as entertainment and sport,” he said.

“On the other hand, political and economic stories can’t be done by AI technologies because these news categories really need fact checkings, which AI does not have the ability to do,” he finished.

He concluded that journalism is about delivering a trust of information to the people; to connect them to the outside world.
