The term empath comes from empathy, which is the ability to understand the experiences and feelings of others outside of your own perspective, in other words, someone else’s pain and happiness become your pain and happiness, says Healthline.

“Empaths did not come into this world to be victims, we came to be warriors. Be brave. Stay strong. We need all our hands on the deck,” said by Anthon St. Maarten on Goodread.

A student from Bachelor of Mass Communication, Cynthia Yee shares deep insights on emotional intelligence on her Facebook page @Cynthia Yee and has been an advocate of using popular psychological tips to empower affectionate individuals for better emotional intelligence to avoid irrational action.

She said that “being an Empath is a gift because you are able to feel emotions more intensely than others. Empathic people are extremely sensitive to the emotional energy of people around them.”

Cynthia is concerned with this topic and always voices out for empaths and says, “We've seen people who fight back their bosses for unfair treatment, have breakdowns and are mentally stressed at the workplace and study area.

So if we can develop EQ better, we can manage emotions better and find the most effective solution to possible scenarios.”

She is sharing the idea of her empowering guide about being an empath for students to have more insight about emotional intelligence (EQ).

Firstly, do not be an easy target for manipulators, as empaths being hyper-affectionate individuals, are fantastic listeners.

“When things get personal, they are easily manipulated by others via locking onto their emotions, in searching for acceptance and induce favors from others, which would eventually turn into desperation and obsession,” she said.

However, Cynthia also mentions releasing pent-up emotions productively.

She says that heightened emotions and experiences can give a person more space to expand their creativity as they find ways to express their inspirations, so this allows people to contemplate an endless range of scenarios, especially those that are highly emotionally evocative.

Her advice is that students are still developing their way throughout their academic and experience years, so it's not to say their EQs are not developed, but the potential hasn't reached its peak yet because they have yet to embark on a journey to discover more skills themselves.

Along the way, to be an empath, instead of receiving others' darkness and making yourself feel upset and miserable, be the one who transforms that darkness into and getting them to a higher place.
