Merry & Market-Ready: Taylor’s Student Winter Bazaar

KUALA LUMPUR– The holiday season arrived early at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus as the Student Winter Bazaar transformed the SLC Walkway into a festive marketplace on 15 December 2025. Filled with student-run booths and a steady flow of visitors, the one-day event brought together creativity, community, and entrepreneurship in the spirit of the season.

Organised by Taylor’s Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship Club, the Winter Bazaar was part of the club’s fundraising initiative. However, its purpose extended beyond raising funds. According to event organiser Joanne, the bazaar was designed to provide students with a low-risk and low-cost opportunity to experience running their own businesses. Unlike conventional markets, student vendors were not required to pay rental fees, allowing them to focus on showcasing their products without financial pressure.

“The main idea is fundraising for our club, but at the same time, we want to give students a chance to start their own business,” Joanne explained. “Because the vendors have lower costs, they can also sell their products at more affordable prices, so visitors can get something they like without spending too much.”

Walking along the SLC Walkway, visitors were greeted by a wide variety of booths, each reflecting the unique interests of the student vendors. From handmade treats to fandom-inspired merchandise, the bazaar highlighted how personal passions could be turned into business ideas.

One of the student vendors, Cici from Kpop Neverland, showcased K-pop-related items such as photocards, stickers, and handmade accessories. For Cici, the bazaar marked her first experience as a vendor. Encouraged by friends from the club, she decided to take the opportunity to participate. “I’m selling K-pop items, and if you like K-pop culture, you can find a lot here,” Cici said. She described the experience as exciting and meaningful, especially with friends stopping by to offer their support. “I feel the warmth. It’s very exciting and interesting.”

Another vendor, Jason from Euphoria Crystal, returned to the bazaar for the third time. Specialising in natural crystals, Jason offered customised options for customers, allowing them to choose products that matched their preferences. He shared that the bazaar provided a welcoming environment to introduce his ideas to fellow students. “Students here are very outgoing. They love to talk, and it gave me a very good experience,” Jason said.

Throughout the day, the bazaar attracted steady foot traffic from across campus. Students browsed booths, chatted with vendors, and made cashless purchases, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The event encouraged interaction and peer support, turning simple transactions into meaningful conversations.

Beyond shopping and seasonal cheer, organisers hope the Student Winter Bazaar can inspire long-term entrepreneurial thinking among students. By offering a supportive platform for experimentation and learning, the bazaar aims to help small ventures grow into future businesses.
